The Story Behind Kpub Korean BBQ
Kenny Lee of KPUB Korean BBQ brings a lifetime of discipline, dedication, and culinary passion to Anchorage’s dining community. A proud U.S. Army veteran, he served from 1979 to 1983 as Infantry at Fort Hood, Texas, after completing basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. His military service instilled resilience, leadership, and a commitment to excellence — qualities that continue to guide his work in the restaurant industry.
Over the years, he has built a respected career operating several beloved Anchorage restaurants, including Yes Bistro, Samurai Sushi, and now KPUB Korean BBQ and Ding How Buffet. With extensive experience cooking and managing American, Italian, Japanese, and Chinese cuisines, he has mastered a wide range of flavors and food traditions. But his final and most personal mission has always been to promote the cuisine of his heritage: authentic Korean food.
That mission comes to life at KPUB Korean BBQ, a restaurant that stands apart in Anchorage. KPUB offers:
-
Authentic Korean BBQ with high-quality meats you grill right at your table.
-
Korean kitchen favorites, including classic dishes prepared with traditional techniques and bold flavors.
-
Anchorage’s only Korean lunch buffet, giving guests a chance to enjoy a wide variety of Korean cuisine in one visit.
KPUB combines the excitement of tabletop grilling, the comfort of homemade Korean dishes, and the value of a full buffet — creating a dining experience unlike anything else in Alaska.
For the owner, KPUB represents more than a business. It is the culmination of his culinary journey and the fulfillment of his dream to share the rich, soulful flavors of Korea with the community he loves.
